Pediatric Bipolar I or Bipolar II Disorder

The current study is evaluating an oral medication that was FDA approved for adults as a treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder. If your child is struggling with depressive episodes associated with bipolar I or II disorder, this study may be of interest. Your child may eligible to participate if they:

  • Are a child ages 10 to 17

  • Have been diagnosed with either bipolar I or II disorder

  • Have a lifetime history of major depressive episodes

  • Are free from recent worsening of illness within 90 days

The study doctors are investigating the safety and tolerability of the drug for pediatric patients. Patients who qualify for this study will be admitted to a facility and given one capsule once daily for 5 days. It is also possible that participation in this trial may result in one or more side effects. The study doctor will review all related risks and closely monitor participants at no cost.
